Bamboo Group has always considered climate neutrality as one of its primary goals. In 2020, it came one step closer to achieving it.
Last year, Bamboo Group managed to reduce its carbon footprint by the equivalent of 100277.2077 kg of CO2 compared to the year prior. The lower number is the result of several different factors, the most exemplary of which are reduced public/private transport usage and reduced business travel.
In 2019, the use of public and private transportation by Bamboo Group employees for commuting to work accounted for 93572.5 kg of CO2. In 2020, that number fell by 81.3%, with the result standing at 17405.92 kg of CO2. The CO2 emissions from business travel were reduced by 67.6%. The carbon footprint caused by business travel went from the equivalent of 22173,72 kg of CO2 in 2019 to 7179,20 kg of CO2 in 2020.
These numbers are a direct result of Bamboo Group’s social responsibility policy, meticulous planning for minimizing the environmental impact of the company’s activity, and, of course, the common effort of all its employees. Over the course of 2020, the enterprise’s offices in Estonia, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia made the most out of working remotely, which was further necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic.
“By leaning into more online-based practices, such as more active use of video conferences, remote vacation planning, and remote task management, Bamboo Group managed to foster a more efficient and sustainable working environment,” explains Vladislav Herchykau, the CEO of Bamboo Group. “We hope to carry these positive changes well into the future, and to achieve complete carbon neutrality within the next couple of years.”
Bamboo Group has calculated its CO2 footprint in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. The specific numbers provided above were acquired via the GHG Protocol’s distance-based method of calculating carbon emissions from transportation.
